چکیده
The application of microchannel heat exchanger (MCHX) technology for the development compact, high power density integral steam generators is investigated. A representative MCHX test section with two-phase flow water on one side and hotter, single-phase other designed fabricated. facility hot, boiling, cold fluid loops, respectively, developed to experimentally investigate duty pressure drop performance generator under a wide range operating conditions. Tests isolate specific transfer regimes such as subcooled saturated boiling dryout are conducted assess accuracy correlations transition criteria available in literature. 0.248 × 0.056 0.041 m transferred ~65 kW conditions segmented model using closure models that provide best agreement data from regime-specific experiments. resulting provides good overall set, an Absolute Average Deviation (AAD) ~3% ~10% drop, points which exit predicted be regime. For where post-dryout regime, AADs ~12.4% ~5.6%, respectively. validated this study could aid design modular, both large-scale well small modular reactors.

Experimental Investigation and Theoretical Model for Subcooled Flow Boiling Pressure Drop in Microchannel Heat Sinks
This study examines the pressure drop characteristics of subcooled two-phase microchannel heat sinks. A new model is proposed, which depicts the subcooled flow as consisting of a homogeneous two-phase flow layer near the heated walls of the microchannel and a second subcooled bulk liquid layer. This model is intended for conditions where subcooled flow boiling persists along the entire microcha...
متن کاملFlow regime-based modeling of heat transfer and pressure drop in microchannel flow boiling
Local heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops during boiling of the dielectric liquid fluorinert FC-77 in parallel microchannels were experimentally investigated in recent work by the authors. Detailed visualizations of the corresponding two-phase flow regimes were performed as a function of a wide range of operational and geometric parameters. A new transition criterion was developed for...

Nucleate pool boiling heat transfer coefficient have been experimentally measured on a horizontal rod heater for various liquid binary mixtures. Measurements are based on more than three hundred data points on a wide range of concentrations and heat fluxes. In this investigation, it has been confirmed that the heat transfer coefficient in boiling solutions are regularly less than those in p...
متن کاملNumerical and Experimental Investigations for Effect of Gravity to the Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow Phenomena of Microchannel Heat Exchangers
For both numerically and experimentally, effect of gravity on the heat transfer and fluid flow phenomenon of microchannel heat exchangers was presented. The influence was determined by two cases: one with horizontal channels, the other with vertical channels. For vertical channels, the hot water is flowing upward which is against the gravitational field, while the cold water is flowing downward...

Subcooled flow boiling in multi-microchannels can be used as an efficient thermal management approach in compact electrical devices. Highly subcooled flow boiling of HFE 7100 is studied in two microchannel heat sinks to choose a proper numerical model for simulating boiling flows in microchannels. Results of five different numerical models, including Volume of Fluid (VOF), Eulerian boiling, Eul...
